Misty Miller is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner, with a special interest in neurology. Misty sees individuals needing routine care, and also those requiring hospital follow-up and urgent evaluation. She has a passion for preventive healthcare and education. Her goal is to help patients find a more optimal balance in their health and well-being. Prior to joining Western Neuro, Misty has over fifteen years of experience as an inpatient critical care nurse, specializing in neurocritical care. She was also the stroke program director for the Comprehensive Stroke Program at the Carondelet Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital. She has spent hundreds of hours educating the EMS community, the rural medical community, and the local community about stroke recognition and treatment. Misty is the mother of five children. She is also a Captain in the US Army Reserves. Outside of the clinic, Misty enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Medical care is a two way street that requires people to relate with others in levels that can be more private and personal than a relationship with even a spouse. Medical persons may have to be involved in areas that a patient can't imagine possible. Sometimes a patient can need treatments that a Dr can't imagine being exposed too. Some patients and Drs have to carry one another to make things better In the long run and trusting each other is the best place to start. After having a multi year treatment that ended In my having a J-Pouch I know from communicating with Dr Miller that I can trust her to be sincere In caring for patients. Dr Millers professionalism carries over to her staff and others around her.

Dr Miller listened to my concerns and said to me, "we are going to get you the treatments you need, you're much too young to be having a stroke". I explained to her about a urology problem I'm having and a Dr visit that went poorly and how I had no faith in that practitioner. She asked me if I would prefer somebody else and offered to help me find a Dr that was a better fit for me. I've been seeing that person for a couple of years.She helped me get treatment when I injured myself while vacationing out of state and followed up further when I returned. There are lots of good medical professionals like her and there are others. You can't buy the good ones off the shelf.

I was a few minutes late at lunch time on a Friday and the front desk staff had me take a seat as she located the Doctors assistant. The assistant quickly got me through my checkup for vitals and took me to the exam room. The assistant then went to get the Dr who arrived within a couple of minutes with charts in hand. I apologized for being late and she told me not to worry it wasn't that very late and they were prepared for me and we continued on from where we left off a year before. Dr Miller has always shown true concern for my Issues and takes the effort to get me solutions to resolve my issues.

I have other departments I visit and they are okay in that they are cordial and professional but they aren't as welcoming and not as comfortable. Misty is wonderful. My first visit was a referral from my PCP regarding possible TIAs, so I was apprehensive before I ever left my house in Benson. But Misty put me right at ease from the first moment, and now I look forward to going to see her. Her knowledge is vast, and she has a nice way of explaining things as well. I moved to Tucson 18 months ago and looked for a doctor or PA to help me with my familial tremors. Misty is by far the best medical person I have seen for this issue. She is kind, compassionate and caring. She ran several tests I never had before, which showed I had a small stroke in the past. I have never had someone treat me with such concern before. I am sorry to be leaving Tucson because she is the best medical professional I saw my whole time living here. I can't thank Misty, or her Administrative Assistant, Claudia, for everything. I am grateful to both of them.
