Dr. Celis received his medical degree from the Catholic University of Chile School of Medicine in 1979. He completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee. Dr. Celis is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. His adult medicine interests include: diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, cancer prevention, wound healing, and hyperbaric medicine. He moved to Tucson in 1984 and enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, and hiking.

regarding Dr Celia you should probably want to know that when Dr Featherston left 3 family members were moved to Dr Celis. After seeing him 2 family members went to another practice. I have decided to give him one more chance. I heard one patient ranting after seeing him that all he ever tells this patient is to lose weight. My second visit I was concerned that both of my ankles are swollen and his response was to lose weight. I am 5'9" and weigh 170 lbs age 68. I realize that it would be ideal if I weighed 150 but I just don't think that my weight is the only problem. I will be seeing him in six weeks and hope to have lost some weight but its difficult due to the fact that I am recovering from a broken hip and knee cap. what I would really like to know about is who will be replacing Dr Featherston and would I be able to see said person. I have been a patient at your practice for many years. I received what I considered excellent care from Dr Ortiz in fact she was mt doctor while I was in the hospital for my broken hip. I also saw Dr. Dawson who was very smart and helpful with my helpful with my health problems. I hope this is helpful. Jo Ann Quillen

I woke up with a sore leg and, having previously had a DVT, I suspected that I could have another one. I called the office at about 9 am and to my surprise and delight I was able to get a 1 pm appointment that same day. Dr. Celis wrote up a request for a ultrasound and I was able to get a 3 pm appointment at St. Mary's Imaging. By about 3:45 pm the radiologist reported I had a DVT and I was able to come up to Dr. Celis office and he wrote a script for Xeralto and by about 4:45 pm I picked up the Xeralto. I consider this an outstanding repsonse to my problem. If I were a primary care provider I would always keep 1 or 2 appointment time slots open every day for a person who wakes up and knows he / she needs to see doctor that day.

When I was picking up my Xeralto I mentioned to the pharmacist how lucky I was to have gotten to see my primary care doctor so quickly. A bystander then approached me asking about my primary doctor and I allowed her to copy the contact information for Dr. Cellis from an appointment card I had gotten for my next visit to see Dr. Celis. So yes I have recommended Dr. Celis.

I HAVE A HARD TIME WITH PRESSURE ON MY ARMS WITH THE BLOOD PRESURE CUFFS AND ALWAYS ASK THEM TO DO A WRIST CHECK FOR THAT AND I ALWAYS FEEL IT'S A HASEL FOR THEM AND THEY HAVE TO DO IT THE OTHER WAY. THEY MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I'M BEING DIFFICULT, BUT IT'S A MEDICAL ISSUE.

The care taken for my privacy in discussing any matter impressed me. When leaving remembered something I had not told Dr. Celis, and he immediately had me step into an exam room to give me his full attention rather than taking note of whatever I said in the hallway. Also, both the doctor and PA were very professional in their manner as far as routine cleanliness to the point it was so smooth one would not even notice (I only do now because you have asked me the question and it gave me an opportunity to recall).

Doctors don't touch you any more. The scope on their neck is the only thing ever used or the problem is diverted to another doctor so I've never seen the doctor wash his hands.
