Incontinence Therapy

More than 20 million people in the U.S. are affected with some degree of involuntary urine loss. Women are affected twice as frequently as men, and bowel incontinence can range from involuntary loss of gas to loss of stool.

Traditional treatments for incontinence include medication and surgery, but physical therapy is a safe, effective alternative treatment offered at RIM. Many incontinence cases – 60 to 80 percent – can be improved or cured with this specialized physical therapy treatment.

Incontinence Physical Therapy at RIM
One of the causes of involuntary leakage is pelvic floor muscle weakness.
At RIM we:
  • Teach patients exercises to strengthen muscles in the pelvic floor, which is an effective way to regain bladder and bowel control
  • Offer a team of physical therapists with highly specialized training who will assess your pelvic floor musculature and prescribe a unique, customized treatment program for you
  • Teach you to use biofeedback to help re-educate and strengthen your pelvic floor muscles.
