Assistive Technology

At RIM, we offer a comprehensive program for Assistive Technology (AT) by prescribing and providing assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities. Our AT program enables people to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to accomplish by determining the correct devices and procedures needed in order to improve mobility and independence.

We offer both inpatient and outpatient Assistive Technology services for all ages.

Our Assistive Technology services include:
  • Augmentative and alternative communication for speech
  • Consultation on environment controls, adaptive equipment and computer access
  • Orientation to Assistive Technology for inpatients, which includes a basic overview of different AT devices including computer access devices, environmental control units, and augmentative communication systems
  • Bedside training for inpatients in the use of environmental control systems for operating such devices as the nurse call light and telephone
