Back and Spine

When back or neck pain affects your ability to work, exercise or enjoy leisure activities, DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM) can help. Our comprehensive back and spine program combines physical therapy, exercise and education to alleviate pain and get patients moving again.

Nonsurgical Back Pain Therapy
Our physical therapists have extensive experience and training in the evaluation and management of orthopedic conditions and spine rehabilitation. Following a thorough evaluation of your condition, our therapists will design a customized treatment program designed to relieve neck and back pain.

The care we provide focuses on nonsurgical treatments, such as:

  • Joint mobilization
  • Soft tissue mobilization
  • Functional massage
  • Spine stabilization/core strengthening
  • Functional training
  • Body mechanics/ergonomic principles

Advanced Back Pain Therapy
Many of our therapists are certified to perform specific advanced back pain treatments, such as orthopedic manual physical therapy (OMPT). These techniques include:

  • Craniosacral treatment
  • Muscle energy
  • Myofascial release
  • Strain/Counterstrain
  • Feldenkrais
  • Pilates
  • Rolfing

Long-term solutions
RIM's therapists provide you with the tools for long-term success. Upon completion of therapy, you'll receive a personalized home exercise program and the information you need to avoid future injury while maintaining a healthier back and spine.

Post-treatment Exercise
Patients who undergo back or spine pain therapy should maintain a regular exercise program after treatment. Anyone who receives therapy at DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan can become a fitness club member at any of our facilities. To find a location near you, visit the outpatient locations page.
